A Kingdom Forgotten has more than 1,000 verifiable downloads/readers...

When I wasn't heads' down developing the new www.athroneofsouls.com website this past weekend, I happened to look at sales, promotions and whatnot and realized A Kingdom Forgotten (Book 1 of A Throne of Souls) had shattered the 1,000 reader milestone. It didn't just barely creep across that line, it blew past it. If you're reading A Throne of Souls you know it's a five-book series and book 2 (Black Mirrors of the Soul) is already published and out there, but I wanted to lay credit where credit was due. A Kingdom Forgotten (Book 1 of A Throne of Souls) is the one that blew through this barrier, and Black Mirrors of the Soul is tremendously better so I'm really looking forward to seeing sales and downloads of that book far surpass AKF.

You can do your own research on whether 1,000 is a good number or counts as success or not, but this is a subtle, textured, nuanced, and incredibly complex series of full-length fiction novels. I don't write novellas and I don't write simplistic, fifth-grade-level material either. So for a book like that, especially not being free (for the most part) to blow through that 1,000 barrier so fast was impressive enough for me to write about it.

I was warned many times: Don't write a full-length novel. Don't write a genre crossover. Don't write anything complex or nuanced. I did all of those things and then did so in a manner that required the creation of a new writing methodology just to handle the complexity of this story. I literally broke all the rules and lit them on fire with this series. Maybe I'm just stubborn, I don't know, but I thought it was significant and worth sharing.

In celebration, I'll share the DRAFT cover of The Fall of Hate (Book 3 of A Throne of Souls). Then I need to get back to working on the Graelon map with my interior artist. ;) Have a good one.
